I love reusable water bottles and have so many around the house! Not only do they help me keep up with my water intake each day, but they are so much better for the environment than plastic water bottles. So I thought making hand lettered personalized reusable water bottles would be a great gift. They are so easy to make and I’ll show you how!
What you’ll need
water bottle
permanent vinyl
transfer tape
optional: iPad, Procreate, Apple Pencil
Water Bottle-
Pink metal water bottle – I purchased mine from Target and you can find similar ones here
Permanent Vinyl: Oracal 651 – glossy white here
Transfer Tape: I used AT75 but most will work for this project here
I decided that I would like to hand letter Miss Bev’s name for her water bottle, so I opened my iPad and the Procreate App. Using one of my new Procreate Brushes, Lovestruck, which you can find here
I lettered her name and added two little hearts. I used black so that later, it would be really easy to convert in Silhouette Studio to a cut file.

Here comes the best part. Turn off the photo layer and background by clicking on the little checked box.

Then, send the hand lettered text to your computer as a PNG and open in Silhouette Studio. Size to the length you need for your water bottle. Silhouette Studio should recognize your design edges by outlining your design in red. Now you are ready to cut!

However, if it’s not ready, it’s easy to convert! Just click on the “butterfly” trace panel, select your design, and click trace! Now you’re ready!

If you’re not using an iPad, simply type the name in Silhouette Studio in your favorite font and size to fit your water bottle.
Load your favorite permanent vinyl and cut out your design. Once it’s finished cutting, weed and apply transfer tape.
Before applying, I like to make sure the surface of the water bottle is clean and not too cold. I wipe it with an alcohol wipe and use a hair dryer to warm up the surface, then, balancing the water bottle in my lap, I line up the decal and slowly press it on with my fingers. Once I’ve rubbed it down all the way, I slowly peel back the transfer tape making sure that nothing lifts up as I go.
Now, you’ve got a completely personalized water bottle!
